Nothing quite like some DIY severed heads this Halloween!

This couple is freaking creeeeeeeeepy.

I don't know why, but this couple just made me think of those couples that always fight when out in public. Do you know what I'm talking about? I had this conversation last week with my good friend. He was talking about a couple he knows that always fights in public and we were laughing, because literally everyone knows that couple. You go to dinner with them in a group setting, and one of them is always ignoring the other at the dinner table, or doing that whisper arguing where they think no one can hear them ... "stop, just stop!" Haha, come on you know exactly what I am talking about! Can't lie, I have totally done that in a relationship. It's the worst!

DIY Halloween Severed Heads

What you need
Stryofoam Head
Cheesecloth
Fabric Stiffener
Mod Podge Hard Coat
Foam Brush
Brown, Black, Red soft pastel sticks
Twine
Instant coffee
Gloves (optional)

Directions
1. Mix your instant coffee with hot water in a medium bowl. Stir until dissolved. Unfold your cheesecloth and using gloves add it to the coffee. Swish it around until it is completely covered. Leave sitting for 8 minutes. Remove cheesecloth and wring out excess coffee. Spread the cheesecloth out to dry.

2. Next apply your "make-up" to your styrofoam head. Add the coloring where the natural shading should be. Add different colors to make it creepy looking!

3. Once the cheesecloth is dry place it in a bowl and add several tablespoons of fabric stiffener. Using gloves, pick up the cloth and work the stiffener around. Make sure it is all covered adding more as necessary but don't end up with a sloppy mess. It should hold a ball shape when you are done.

4. Place the head on a cookie sheet. Unwrap the cheesecloth and drape it evenly over the head. It should pool on the bottom on all sides.

5. Using a foam brush and the mod podge start adhering the cheesecloth to the top of the head. Squish the cheesecloth into the features using the brush. Work your way down the head towards the neck. There will be extra cloth at the bottom. Trim small pieces from it to add additional wrinkles.

6. Tie a piece of twine around the neck to hold the cheesecloth in place. Continue working the mod podge under the chin and down the neck.

7. Arrange the excess cheesecloth at the bottom as desired. The fabric stiffener will make it stay in place when dry.

8. Allow to dry completely and remove the string. If desired, tie a noose around the neck for extra creepiness.
